The Zizhu High-Tech Industrial Development Park was designed in 2000 and started construction in 2002. Located in the southeast of Minhang District of Shanghai, it boasts scenic views and superior geographic advantage along the Huang Pu River. The master plan design is adhering to the development philosophy of “Ecology, Humanity and Technology” and it covers an area of 13 square kilometres. It is the only National High-Tech Industrial Development Park operated by mixed ownership enterprises with private group as the main operating entity and it is listed the 11th in the national high-tech park rankings. It serves as an exemplary park of Shanghai to build a globally influential science and technology innovation centre. The design process started as a short listed competition and it was awarded to Codinachs Architects as the first prize. Preserving the beautiful existing lake, the master plan conceptual idea was to bring the knowledge from Xin Jiao University to the technologic industrial park area. Finally, the high-end residential component was enjoying the riverfront green areas and pedestrian promenade. ECADI was local design institute that collaborated with Codinachs Architects to complete the detail designs and constructions follow up.
