The Huishan North Bund project is a 1.5km long strip along Huang Pu River, facing Pu Dong area in Shanghai. The overall area has been transformed from an old warehouses area to a new and modern mixed-use Business Marina development with the objective of revitalizing the riverfront. The whole master plan is divided into two main marinas surrounded by corporate office buildings and public landscaped courtyards that lead to a common basement with shopping mall spaces and several parking levels.
Codinachs Architects has designed the whole master plan area and the architecture design of four office buildings and one of the courtyards leading to the commercial centre at basement one. Each of the four buildings are designed with a different formal approach while using the same terracotta finishing for the façade to give the sense of consistency with the rest of the surrounding buildings. The interior design of the four entrance lobbies and atriums is a continuity of the exterior façade to the interior by turning the terracotta panels and louvers to the indoor covered area. Beautiful hanging sculptures culminate the interior to give a much stronger effect from the street level.
